Tena Koutou, Greetings.

Ko Horouta te waka,
We came with the canoe named Horouta.
Ko Papatu te maunga,
Our highest landmark is Papatu.
Ko Te Arai te awa,
Our river is Te Arai.
Ko Ruapani te tangata,
We are descended from Ruapani.
Ko Rongowhakaata te iwi,
Our tribe is Rongowhakaata.
Ko Ohako te marae,
Ohako is our significant meeting place.
Ko Te Kiko o te Rangi te wharenui,
Te Kiko o te Rangi is our house.
Ko Ruapani, ko Ngai Tawhiri, ko Ngai te Kete nga hapu,
These are the people of Ohako, the people of the land.
Ko Manutuke te wahi, ko Turanganui a Kiwa te rohe.
Ohako is near the settlement of Manutuke, eighteen kilometres
south of Gisborne, New Zealand.
